SLIDE TWO-
•
Exödus (A.K.A Neil Barry) is an EDM artist born in 1990, Cornwall.
Despite having a religious background which gave him inspiration for him name,
he found his true path in the EDM genre around the age of 18. He moved from his
small country background to London to try and get a chance of being a success.
He was spotted by a music producer doing a small gig in a club in London who
then gave him the right paths to be in the EDM music genre.
•
He is very popular in Europe and especially Germany thus why his name
also has German influences. None of his singles have been a major success in
the UK but he hopes that his new single will give him major success.
SLIDE THREE-
•
These are
the mood boards I created for Exödus which represent the genre of EDM and what
it is about. On the mood board you can see bright colours such as bright blues,
reds and greens. These are typical for the EDM genre and I want to reflect that
in my digipak, poster and music video.
SLIDE FOUR-
•
Exödus will
reflect traditional audience stereotypes of the EDM genre.
•
EDM is a
genre related to young people aged from 16-25 and after research which took
place such as questionnaires, I have found that younger people tend to be more
involved with this genre. EDM is related to the club scene and the age
demographic of 18-25 visit clubs the most.
•
EDM is
generally targeted towards both genders although I could say that Exödus is
more targeted towards men than women as the main artist is male himself and
this shows a relation towards the artist and listener.
•
Exödus
wouldn’t trap himself towards one social class although the EDM genre tends to
be more towards lower-middle classes as upper classes relate to the more
classical genre stereotypically.
SLIDE FIVE-
· Exödus’s audience should have an outgoing
personality. They should be fun and enjoy partying.
· They should be sociable and carefree. They
shouldn’t have worries or issues.
· Many would spend their money on clubbing and
CD’s of their favourite artists.
· They may enjoy experimenting with music and
creating music of their own.
SLIDE SIX-
· I am making a music video for the Daft Punk
song “Harder better faster stronger”. I chose this song as it has a good EDM
vibe which matched with my artist. I have decided to make an interesting twist
to the music video which many EDM artists do, I will be using just LEGO
characters instead of humans. The music video will take some inspiration from
Toy Story as it will have the leave room, come alive idea. The music video
begins with a boy playing with LEGO, he leaves the room and the LEGO comes
alive. The DJ LEGO figurine builds himself a club set with his own DJ table
whilst other LEGO figurines coming alive to join in with the party. At the ¾
mark, the LEGO people turn on the TV and a party scene takes place. At the end
of the music video, the boy walks into the room and the LEGO people and pieces
collapse on the club floor once again referencing the Toy Story idea.
SLIDE
SEVEN-
· There is a link between lyrics and visuals as
the lyrics say about becoming ‘bigger’ and ‘better’ whilst the LEGO people
build the DJ set and make it larger.
· The music links with the visuals as robots
are related with futurism and the music is very futuristic.
· Genre characteristics featured in the music video
include the dance scenes and the DJ set. This is featured in many EDM music
videos.
· The artist is not in the music video as his
is a popular characteristic of the genre.
SLIDE EIGHT-
· This is my animatic for my music video
